Abby’s Debut Novel Forthcoming in April 2026 with Simon & Schuster

Dear friends, mentors, and colleagues,

In these difficult times, I hope to offer a bit of good news: my debut novel, Livonia Chow Mein, will be published by Simon & Schuster in April 2026. It’s been a labor of love for ten years. Here’s the Publishers Weekly notice:

Asian American Writers’ Workshop Margins Fellow Abigail Savitch-Lew’s LIVONIA CHOW MEIN, an expansive intergenerational and multiethnic narrative centered on a Chinese restaurant in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, and the role its descendants play in the changing dynamics of the neighborhood and its residents, to Yahdon Israel at Simon & Schuster, in a pre-empt, by Jim McCarthy at the literary agency Dystel, Goderich & Bourret.

You can read a synopsis of the book here.

If you’ve received this email, it’s because I’ve added you to my newsletter list. Later on, I’ll be sending out occasional updates about the book, letting you know how you can purchase the novel, where you can attend a reading, etc. That information will also be available on the “Book Updates” section of my website.

For more frequent updates, you can follow me on Instagram at @abigailsavitchlew. My email remains the same: savitchlew@gmail.com. (See below to unsubscribe.)

Last but not least, please accept my most sincere gratitude. It’s because of everyone on this list — because of your support, your insights, or your ongoing quest for equity and justice — that this book will soon exist.

Regards,

Abby
